IMALI YE MWANA NETWORK
The Imali Ye Mwana which means money for children, is a SADC regional network currently with seven members. The members are Botswana-DITSHWANELO, Lesotho Pre-school Association, Mauritius, save the children Swaziland, Mozambique - Rede De Crianca, Malawi Coalition for Quality Basic Education, Zambia Civic Education Association – Zambia and Zimbabwe- National Association Non-government.
The objectives of Imali Ye Mwana are:
- To facilitate capacity building and coalition building
- To facilitate information sharing among member countries
- To mobilize resources
- To influence policy and decision making
- To gather information from SADC member states on children
In the year under review Imali Ye Mwana network held two bi-annual meetings where members shared experiences and programmes that are being carried out. Imali also held a three day regional dialogue on child budget and education in the SADC region. The meeting had a special focus on education. Imali Ye Mwana also conducted capacity building sessions for the partners in Applied Budget work. ZCEA represented the Imali Ye Mwana at SADC regional poverty meeting, where strategies for poverty reduction were discussed by Civil Society.
